Infinix Zero 5G review

They've now

released their first 5g phone the infinix zero 5g it's not just about the next-gen connectivity this phone also brings some other interesting features too i'm wilford gsm marina and let's see what the infinix zero 5g is all about in our full review

the infinix zero 5g is a budget mid-ranger that brings an interesting design the back is curved and quite glossy and it slopes up to seamlessly

meet the cameras with its shiny finish the back panel is a bit of a fingerprint magnet though the material may look like glass but the

phone is actually made of plastic and it feels like it too there's even a bit of give to the surface if you press on it hard enough the volume rocker is mushy and doesn't feel great but the fingerprint reader slash power button is clicky and quite responsive waking up and unlocking the

phone in an instant the screen of the infinix zero 5g is a 6.78 inch ips lcd with a 1080p resolution and a 120hz refresh rate the high refresh rate is adaptive

meaning that it can dial down depending on the content on screen to save power unfortunately the high refresh rate doesn't really achieve its main purpose

which is to make movement on screen more fluid this is because the display's pixel response time is sluggish and you often get ghosting and blurriness with a pixel density of 388 ppi this screen looks plenty sharp but sadly it has no hdr support of any kind plus the colors aren't veryaccurate at all

everything trends bluish and with no color profiles or tone and adjustment

options available in settings you can't do much about it either

another issue is the max brightness it goes up to around 500 nits in both

manual and automatic mode which may not be enough for good legibility when outside in the sun for audio the infinix zero 5g has a traditional headphone jack and a single bottom firing speaker this speaker

scored a good rating on our loudness charts and its sound quality is okay

with decent sounding highs

the phone comes with 128 gigs of storage on board and that is expandable via microsd card and the infinix zero 5g runs xos 10

which is based on android 11 but features extensive customizations it

brings a ton of extra features and plenty of pre-installed apps too

one difference from stock android you'll notice immediately is that the standard

notification shade is divided into a separate notification center and a

control center the home screen is really customizable too you can choose from different swipe animations and even set your own font

color there is always an app drawer but you can also set the phone to organize your apps into large folders or to keep them all on the home screen itself

you also get a dedicated game launcher which lets you tune your gaming

experience the proprietary features are quite extensive and include things like an ai assistant smart connectivity a system-wide translator and power saving controls and that's just the tip of the iceberg behind all of these features is a mediatek demensity 900 chipset built on a six nanometer process it provides

both solid mid-range performance which outclasses mediatek's helio g series chips as well as the phone's headlining

5g connectivity games run pretty well and thermal throttling isn't an issue at all here

battery life is great too the infinix

zero 5g has a large 5 000 million power

battery and was able to score an

excellent endurance rating of 140 hours

in our proprietary tests

charging speed is nothing to write home

about though despite a decent size 33

watt adapter with it we were only able

to charge the phone from zero to 30

percent in half an hour

now we come to the infinix zero 5gs

cameras there's a 48 megapixel quad

bayer main cam a 13 megapixel telephoto

cam with two times optical zoom and a

depth sensor

the main cam captures 12 megapixel

photos by default and these are decent

but nothing too impressive there's an

average amount of detail and fine

patterns can display a moire effect

colors are a bit dull too while the

dynamic range is limited

we also encountered a bug on our unit in

which the main cams photos would often

come out with a magenta color cast

shots from the two times telephoto are

quite different from the main camps

there's more fine detail here and a more

pleasant color rendition but there are

issues here as well this camera tends to

over expose shots which is made worse by

the somewhat limited dynamic range

and the autofocus isn't the most

consistent either

the infinix zero 5g can shoot portraits

with either the main or the telephoto

camera you'd think that the depth sensor

here would help to provide great subject

separation but in reality it's only

average often getting tripped up by hair

and busy backgrounds

the zoomed portraits don't come out very

sharp either

in low light photos from the main cam

are surprisingly decent there's an auto

night mode that kicks in when it's dark

and the dynamic range isn't all that bad

you get enough sharpness and noise is

under control

you can also toggle a super night mode

which improves things further with

better recovered shadows and highlights

unsurprisingly the telephoto cam

struggles in lolette shots come out

quite soft and even sometimes blurry

enabling super night mode will get you

an over processed but more usable result

selfies are taken with a 16 megapixel

front-facing cam and these are solid

overall the detail and colors are on

point and the dynamic range isn't too

bad

the selfie cam is usable at night too

thanks in part to the phone's selfie

dual led flash

videos can be captured with a main cam

and up to 4k resolution at 30fps this

footage is solid in terms of detail and

dynamic range and there's low noise the

colors are noticeably off though

the zoom cameras videos are capped at

1080p resolution their color rendition

is much better than the main cams and

dynamic range is decently wide there

does seem to be too much sharpening

though

there is electronic stabilization

available for your video recording but

you're limited to 1080p it works

decently eliminating most of the camera

shake

so there you have it guys the infinix

zero 5g brings some clean looks a large

120hz lcd a decent chipset with 5g

connectivity and excellent battery life

plus you get a telephoto lens which is

not too common at this price

its main shortcomings are the ghosting

and the low max brightness of the screen

and the mediocre camera performance too

plus it doesn't have the super

aggressive pricing of other infinix

phones that we've reviewed lately so in

the end unless you're dying for an

infinix phone with 5g support the zero

5g is tough to recommend

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro + 5G review

The new redmi note lineup has been released globally and this is the

highest tier model of the bunch the redmi note 11 pro 5g also known in the

indian market as the redmi note 11 pro plus 5g the redmi notes have been some of xiaomi's most solid and popular mid-rangers so the eleven pro 5g has a lot to live up to and will for gsm arena and let's see how it compares in our full review the redmi note 11 pro 5g is a mid-range

phone which has some higher tier features balanced out by some more

budget-oriented ones

it brings a design language that is shared across this year's whole redmi

note series with a flat rather than curved backside while these phones may look like they're

made from metal they have a glass back with a plastic frame the matte finish feels nice in hand and is resistant to smudges plus the redmi note 11 devices have ip53 rated dust and splash resistance though you could also find that on last year's models on the front of the redmi note 11 pro 5g

is a 6.67 inch amoled with a 1080p

resolution gorilla glass 5 protection and a fast 120hz refresh rate the screen is quite responsive thanks to a 360hz touch sampling rate and movements on screen are smoothed out by the 120hz refresh rate unlike more premium phones though the screen refresh rate isn't

adaptive here to save energy this display is quite nice for this

class while you don't get hdr10 support there are deep amoled blacks and

decently accurate colors and it's all pretty sharp with a pixel density of

around 400 ppi

brightness is good too we measured a maximum of 470 nits when using the manual slider and the screen boosts to around 750 nits in auto mode when in bright sun for audio the redmi note 11 pro 5g has a

headphone jack as well as stereo speakers with dolby atmos support the

speakers have a hybrid setup and sound is balanced with loudness that measured very good on our charts sound quality has improved since last year too with rich mids and highs and some noticeable bass for storage the redmi note 11 pro 5g

comes with either 64 or 128 gigs and is expandable via microsd and you can use the fingerprint reader built into the power key to wake up and unlock the phone it's fast and reliable on release the redmi note phones run on xiaomi's miui 13 over android 11. this interface is easy to use and quite familiar if you're used to ui you can check out our dedicated video to

what sets the redmi note 11 pro 5g apart from its 4g counterpart is the chipset here you get a qualcomm snapdragon 695 5g while the other one has a mediatek helio g96 in cpu tests the note 11 pro 5g is able to achieve better scores than either the 4g model or last year's model gpu-wise

though is not a significant upgrade performance is snappy overall and the

thermals are great but if you're looking

 o play heavy games there are more powerful chipsets in the competition

all of the new redmi note phones have a large 5 000 milliamp hour battery the 11 pro 5g was able to score a 150 an hour endurance rating in our tests which is

just as excellent as last year this is better than the 100 hour rating

scored by the non 5g model and it's probably because there's a more

efficient chipset here

one clear upgrade over last year is 67 watt fast charging where before it was 33 watts we were able to charge the redmi note 11 pro 5g from zero to 74 percent in half an hour whereas last

year's model and charger could achieve 50 now onto cameras the redmi note 11 pro

5g has a high res 108 megapixel main

camera paired with an 8 megapixel ultra wide and a 2 megapixel macro cam

the main camera saves 12 megapixel images by default and these are all

right with enough detail for this class and true to life colors the dynamic

range is good and not over the top however these photos are not ideal with

visible noise and over sharpening and some corner softness

the note 11 pro 5g doesn't have a depth sensor like the 4g model does but that's

no problem portraits are excellent with detailed and sharp subjects and good

separation

8 megapixel ultra wide photos are ok for this price range but nothing great you

get enough contrast and wide dynamic range but they come out soft with a

mediocre level of detail and the colors are a bit off the note 10 pro had a 5 megapixel telemacro camera with autofocus but the new model has a downgraded 2 megapixel

macro shooter with fixed focus its photos are soft with washed out colors but at least the dynamic range is decent

at night the main cam takes good low-light photos there is enough detail realistic-looking

exposure and well-preserved colors the

noise is handled well too

night mode photos are sharper with more

resolved detail and you get a wider

dynamic range with restored clipped

highlights and develop shadows

while the exposure is slightly brighter

the note 11 pro 5g doesn't turn night

and day

the 8 megapixel ultra wide photos taken

at night time are not really usable

they're incredibly dark and noisy

unlike the regular note 11 pro on the 5g

model there's no night mode for the

ultrawide cam you can force hdr on to

get a better result and you will end up

with less noise

selfies come from the 16 megapixel front

facing cam and they're not the sharpest

around but they are still pretty good

there's enough resolve detail good

contrast and exposure low noise and true

to life colors

one major shortcoming of the redmi note

11 pro 5g is that there's no support for

4k video recording which you did have on

last year's redmi note 10 pro

still the 1080p clips from the main

camera are good there is enough detail

and balance sharpening adequate dynamic

range and true to life colors the videos

could be sharper but the softness is

probably a result of the always-on

electronic stabilization

the 1080p videos from the ultrawide

camera are decent too they have enough

detail and you get accurate colors and

tolerable noise levels

so that's the redmi note 11 pro 5g it

has a lot going for it like that sleek

and splash proof design a high refresh

rate amoled nice stereo speakers and

excellent battery life

these were all features you'd find on

last year's model as well but on top of

that now you get a 5g chipset and fast

charging

the problem is that at the same time the

cameras have seen a downgrade and

they're less capable than last year

especially when it comes to video

recording

that makes this year's hike in price a

tough pill to swallow

so overall the redmi note 11 pro 5g is a

decent mid-ranger but you can find

better value elsewhere
